Spring is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to get out of our boring drab winter looks. Summer looks have never been as exciting as it is this year. The hottest trend this season is the bright and bold neon lipstick! Most of the designers have been incorporating this look in their spring-summer collections. Celebs all over the world have already been proudly sporting the look on all the red carpets.

Our favorite neon collections are the Bobbi Brown Neons & Nudes, or MAC’s Something New or Neon Orange. This hot look is amazingly fun, but there are a few rules about how to wear the look without looking like a clown. When going for bright neon lips, keep the rest of the face really simple and fresh. Try to achieve the dewy, clean look. Use a good quality foundation and concealer to even out your skin tone. Loose powder like MAC Gold Studio Finish Face Powder is a great option to achieve this look. Using bronze highlights is a good idea. As a general rule, neon colors require the bronze tones in your skin to really pop. If you have naturally tanned skin, this step might be unnecessary. Go easy on the blush, as two colors so close to each other on your face is the worst look. Keep the eye makeup really simple. Enhance your eyes with simple black eyeliner on your upper lash line, and lots of mascara. Leave the waterline bare or apply flesh toned pencil to give a neat bright look. Weirdly enough, the part of the face that needs most attention to complement neon lips, are the eyebrows. You have to enhance your brows to be bolder than usual. Fill them in with dark brown eyeshadow/pencil and apply compact under the brow bone for a crisp look.
